From Kokoro #098 - Brushed Into Stone

Part of the fascination of artwork is the experience of wonder when we see something that is beyond our comprehension. I have no idea how such delicate brushstrokes are carved into solid stone, but they exist all over Japan. These are not crude representations of a calligraphic brush, but even exhibit the occasional stray bristle that occurs when writing with ink on paper. Some of these stones are over thousand years old, but the brushwork in the calligraphy is as fresh as if it had been written yesterday.
