From Kokoro #053 - Cinder & Pine

Patterns in nature are a constant source of surprise and delight. While I was working on this installment of Kokoro, I was suddenly struck by the similarity to an image I had just worked on — a wave form from the beach that I used in The Water Planet. They are so similar!

I cannot accept that this is strictly coincidental. It makes much more sense to me that there is something universal at work here. Theodore Schwenk was getting at the same thing in his wonderful book, Sensitive Chaos. He'd have loved this example of patterns in nature that show a connection between wave forms in water (created by the wind) and wave forms in pine needles (created by the wind).
