From Kokoro #040 - The Eat Cafe

The now-shuttered Toastmaster Cafe in Globe, Arizona I'd breakfasted in some twenty years earlier. At the time, I thought it would be a great night photograph with the neon sign "Toastmaster Cafe." Unfortunately, I didn't make that image — out of laziness; I slept in rather than going out and making the photograph in the early morning, pre-dawn light. Revisiting the area in 2009, I finally made this photograph, illuminated only by the street light just out of the frame to the right. Opportunity lost.

It's a universal photographic truth that "you can't go back." Even if you can, occasionally, it's a much better photographic strategy to make the image when you think about it. Entropy simply will not be denied. Not that I don't like this version, but I would have liked to see if the image with the neon illuminated would have turned out as well as I saw it in my mind's eye.
