From Kokoro #008 - Bashos Narrow Path

I would love for someone to explain to me the phenomenon that creates this path through the snow. This is actually a frozen lake. For reasons unknown, the snow has been blown off this portion of the ice creating the illusion of this path heading off toward the hill.

Every once in a while, I have a photograph I wish I could do over. Although I like this one a great deal, I do wish I could photograph it from a slightly higher vantage point. I often carry a small step ladder with me just for the few extra feet and angle it adds to a landscape. On this morning, I was so occupied putting chains on my tires that I forgot the ladder and regretted it the moment I saw this composition. Nonetheless, I still think it works pretty well.
