In 1989, I experimented with Polaroid Positive/Negative material after building a custom fitted Polaroid pack adapter for my monorail view camera. The experiment was partly to see how proofing in the field would change my creative vision. This portfolio is the result of that experiment.

The five images in The Valley Spirit are of water. The text that accompanies the portfolio is from 6th Century B.C. Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu.

The portfolio was produced in 1989. I produced 12 of them. I have a only a few left.

Each print is a selenium toned, gelatin silver contact print from the Polaroid Type 55 negative. They are matting in a floating mat, signed and numbered. The portfolio boxes were custom made by Sandy Tilcock of Eugene, Oregon.
