Kokoro #096 - The Fisherman with One EyeThe gentleman on the left is holding a small book that I always carry with me when I'm photographing in a foreign country. The book contains sample photographs of the kinds of things I'm hoping to capture, along with an explanation of my photographic objectives written in their native language — in this case, Chinese. I always show this book before I bring out my camera just to make sure everybody is comfortable and at ease before I begin. Once they understood why I was interested in photographing here, they were more than happy to participate and the entire mood of the scene relaxed.
